Privacy & terms

The short version

  • We only keep what the planner needs: your name, email, and what you put in your planner.
  • Your teacher sees your planner. Your classmates never do.
  • You or your parent can delete your account and everything in it, any time, right from your profile.
  • We never sell your information. Not to anyone, not ever.
  • No ads. No tracking. No following you around the internet.

Still being tested

WeekOwl is new and still being tested and improved. Things may change, break, or move around, and we may need to reset or remove features while we make it better.

  • It’s provided “as is”, without any promise that it will always work or be available.
  • Always check important dates, tests, and deadlines with your teacher. Don’t rely on the app alone.
  • To the extent the law allows, the people who make WeekOwl aren’t responsible for missed work, lost information, or other problems that come from using it.

What we collect

Your account
Email address, password (stored scrambled, we can't read it), name, and whether you're a student, teacher, or homeschool parent.
Your planner
Homework and events your teacher adds, your own notes, what you tick off, comments, spelling lists, and rewards.
Your profile
The character you design and the theme you pick.
Parent PIN
If a parent sets one, it's stored scrambled. Nobody can read it, not even us.
Suggestions
Anything you send with the Suggest button, and which page you were on.
How you found us
If you answer "How did you hear about WeekOwl?" at sign-up, or arrive through one of our own links, we note that (for example "a friend" or "facebook") so we know which posts work. It stays with us and is never shared with ad companies.

What we never collect

  • Location
  • Contacts or photos
  • Phone number or address
  • Birthday or age
  • Advertising or tracking IDs
  • Anything from other apps or websites

Who can see what

Students
Their own planner, their own notes, and the names of their own teachers. Never other students.
Teachers
Their own classes, and the planners of students in those classes, including the student's own notes and ticks. Never students who aren't in their class.
Homeschool parents
The same as a teacher, for their own home classes.
Parents
Use their child's account, so they see what their child sees. The parent PIN keeps family rewards grown-ups only.
Us
We can see stored data only to keep the app running, fix problems, or answer a request you make.

These rules are built into the database itself, not just the screens, so they can’t be bypassed by typing a web address.

How we use it

Only to run the planner: show your week, sync it with your teacher, count stars, and fix things that break. We read suggestions to improve the app.

We don’t sell, rent, or trade anyone’s information, we don’t show ads, and we don’t use it to build profiles of anyone.

Who helps us run it

A few companies help run the app for us. They handle data only on our behalf and aren’t allowed to use it for anything else:

  • Supabase: the database and sign-in.
  • Vercel: the website.
  • Resend: sends our emails (like “confirm your email”).
  • Stripe: handles payments and donations. Card details go straight to Stripe; we never see or store them. We only learn whether a plan is active.

Data always travels encrypted (HTTPS).

Kids under 13

WeekOwl is made for students, including young ones. A child under 13 should only use it with a parent or guardian’s permission, or through their school or teacher. At sign-up we ask for that permission. If you’re a parent and think your child signed up without it, contact us and we’ll delete the account.

When a school or teacher uses WeekOwl, student information is used only for that class and is never used for anything else.

Your choices

  • See and change your name, character, and theme any time on your profile page.
  • A teacher can take a student out of a class. If you need to leave one, ask your teacher.
  • Download a copy of your data any time from your profile page.
  • Delete your account yourself from your profile page. It happens right away, and everything in it is deleted with it. A teacher’s classes are deleted too.
  • Can’t sign in? Contact us and we’ll delete it for you within 30 days.

How long we keep it

As long as the account exists. When an account is deleted, its email, password, name, profile, planner, notes, ticks, comments, stars, and rewards are deleted with it, right away.

Our hosting providers keep short technical logs (for example, the time and IP address of a sign-in) that clear themselves after a short time, and may keep backups that roll off within about a week. Those aren’t used for anything except keeping the app running.

Keeping it safe

Passwords and parent PINs are stored scrambled. Every request is checked against who you are and what you’re allowed to see. No system is perfect, though. If we ever learn that information was exposed, we’ll tell the people affected.

Using the app

  • Be kind. Don’t put anything hurtful or private about someone else into the app.
  • Keep your password to yourself, and parents, keep the parent PIN from your kids.
  • Teachers: only add students you’re allowed to, and follow your school’s rules for student information.

Changes

If we change this page in a way that matters, we’ll update the date at the top. Using the app after a change means you’re okay with the new version.
